Metallic Epoxy Floor Coatings DIY Garage

Metallic Epoxy Floor Coating for garages is a popular and attractive offering.  The most important part of performing an installation is the prep. DIY should consult with a reputable supplier for step by step instructions before starting.  Frankly, request info from someone who has installed a floor!

Although fairly easy to complete, there are a few differences vs. installing a standard epoxy floor coating system.

  • Starting with a relatively smooth floor is best
  • All imperfections, cracks and joints need to be filled and leveled
  • Two coats of primer are best
  • Use a "High Flow" epoxy binder, not just clear epoxy
  • Always order a bit more than you need
  • Extra hands make for easy work!

  1. My husband has been wanting to put epoxy on our garage floor. I really like your advice to get installation information from someone who has actually installed an epoxy floor. It seems like getting advice from someone with experience would be a good idea. Your pictures make it look like it would be relatively easy to install.

  2. What an excellent post! Floor sanding is so thus useful. This helps in restoring floors while not replacement everything. And what's a lot of attention-grabbing regarding this, this could be finished low value.
